A public toilet has become a fulcrum of contention in the upscale residential and commercial area of Kalyani Nagar, pitting several citizens’ groups against the authorities. It all began earlier in October when the public works department (PWD) — in its zeal to provide residents of Kalyani Nagar and thousands of commuters through this prime location with more civic amenities — began constructing the public lavatory with money from Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) funds.
